Greek New Year’s Reception, 1963

King Paul (in the Order of the Redeemer and the Order of Saints George and Constantine) and Queen Frederica of Greece (wearing the Greek Emerald Parure) were joined by Crown Prince Constantine and Princess Irene as well as Prince Juan Carlos and Princess Sofia of Spain for the the traditional New Year’s Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens on this day in 1963, followed by the cutting of the Royal Guards’ New Year Pie. The New Year’s Reception was followed by the Engagement of Crown Prince Constantine of Greece and Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark as well as the Greek Monarchy Centenary Celebrations.
