Belgian State Visit to Lithuania

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 3-Day State Visit to the Republic of Lithuania at the request of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties in a year marking 100 years of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Lithuania.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were welcomed by President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, with a Guard of Honour ahead of the presentation of the delegations and exchange of gifts and decorations (with the King and Queen receiving the Grand Cross of the Collar and the Grand Cross of the Order of Vytautas the Great, while the President and First Lady got the Order of Leopold and the Order of the Crown) before a Tête-à-tête.

Afterwards, the King and President gave Press Conferences while Queen Mathilde and the First Lady visited the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History ahead of Tea at the Presidential Palace. Later, the King and Queen laid a Wreath laying at the Memorial to those killed in the struggle for the Lithuanian Independence at the Antakalnis Cemetery.

In the evening, President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė hosted a State Banquet in honour of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde (wearing the Wolfers Necklace Tiara and Queen Paola’s Aquamarine Earrings) at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, at which both he King and President gave speeches.
