— The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@KensingtonRoyal) April 23, 2018The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a healthy baby boy, weighing 8lbs 7oz, at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington in London at 11:00 am on April 23rd. The Duchess and her child are both doing well, and members of both families are delighted. The family will be pictured departing the Hospital shortly, and we can expect to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte before then. The name of the baby, who is 5th-in-line to the Throne, will be announced in a few days. This is the first time since the adoption of new succession laws that a boy will not precede his older sister in the line of succession. The Duke and Duchess announced their third pregnancy last September.

UPDATE #2– The baby Prince has been named ‘HRH Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge’, and will be known as ‘Prince Louis’! Louis is probably a nod to the Duke of Edinburgh’s grandfather, the Marquess of Milford Haven, great-grandfather, the Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine, and favourite uncle, the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, who was also the mentor of the Prince of Wales. Along with Arthur, it is one of the middle names of the Duke of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales. Charles is a tribute to the baby’s paternal grandfather, who is the future King!
Hip, hip hurrah!!! Born on St. George’s Day, patron saint of England! How cool is that! I’m so happy to see that everything went well and that the baby and mother are splendid. Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte on such a happy occasion!
