Queen Elizabeth (wearing Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara, the Coronation Necklace and Earrings and her Coronation Rivière) was joined by Princess Margaret (in her Persian Turquoise Parure) and the Duchess of Gloucester (wearing her Diamond Bandeau) for the Royal Variety Performance at the Victoria Palace on this day in 1951, in aid of the Royal Variety Charity. Special Guests included Sister Ruth Beswetherick and Sister Doreen Pearce, who were attending King George VI after an operation in the last few months of his life while Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh were on an extensive Tour of Canada.
