Emperor Naruhito’s Enthronement Parade

The ongoing series of events to celebrate the Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito of Japan as the 126th Emperor on the Chrysanthemum Throne continued with a Parade through Tokyo on November 10th. Emperor Naruhito acceded to the Chrysanthemum Thone in May after the abdication of Emperor Akihito the previous day. In the afternoon of November 10th, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako processed through the city of Tokyo in a new convertible, from the Imperial Palace to their residence at the Akasaka Estate, followed by Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko. The Parade was originally scheduled for the day of the Enthronement, but was delayed due to Typhoon Hagibis.

Emperor Naruhito wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers and the Star and Collar of the Order of the Chrysanthemum. Empress Masako wore a white Gown with the Meiji Scroll Tiara, Two Diamond Riveres, Diamond EarringsPearl Sunburst Brooch, and the Order of the Precious Crown. Crown Prince Akishino wore the Order of the Chrysanthemum while Crown Princess Kiko wore the Crown Princess Diamond Scroll Tiara and the Order of the Precious Crown.
