Bavarian Lover’s Knot Tiara

Today marks the bicentenary of the birth of Queen Amalia of Greece, born Duchess Amalia of Oldenburg on this day in 1818, who was the Queen Consort of King Otto I of Greece from 1836 to 1862, and spent the rest of her life in exile in the King’s native Bavaria. Happy Anniversary to Kunwar Digraj Singh of Shahpura and Kumari Vijayashree Shaktawat of Jagat, who got married on this day in 2016! It is very rare to get a glimpse into the complex and ancient rituals of an Indian Royal Wedding, and when I discovered a video recently, I knew I had to share the wedding of two members of minor Indian Princely Houses from Rajasthan, Jaipur and Udaipur respectively.

Queen’s Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh hosted their annual Christmas Lunch for members of the extended British Royal Family at Buckingham Palace on December 19th. This lunch is held for those family members who aren’t invited to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham in Norfolk, due to lack of space.
