Happy Anniversary to Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein and Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg, who got married on this day in 1982 at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg. It was the last match between members of two reigning royal families. Click HERE to take a look at their pre-wedding ball. Royal guests included Queen Sophia of Spain, Queen Fabiola and King Baudoin of Belgium, King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, King Michael and Queen Anne of Romania, the Countess and Count of Paris, and Princess Margriet of the Netherlands.
I am surprised that they were allowed to marry in Lent. Does anyone know why? The wedding dress and headpiece, while very suitable for this Bride, are very much indicative of the 1980’s. Ruffles galore!
