Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein

Happy Birthday to Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, who turns 63 today! The daughter of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and Princess Joséphine Charlotte of Belgium, she is the younger sister of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, and a twin sister of Prince Jean. Growing up in Luxembourg, Princess Margaretha was educated at the European School of Luxembourg (ESL), as well as in Belgium, Great Britain and the United States, acquiring a doctorate in the social sciences. In 1982, she married of Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein, the last match between members of two reigning royal families, and the couple have three children: Princess Maria-Anunciata, Princess Marie-Astrid, and Prince Josef-Emanuel, who are in line to the Thrones of both the Grand Duchy and the Principality. Princess Margaretha is the patron of Dyslexia International, as well as the Patroness of the Princess Margaretha Luxembourgeois Girl Guides of Leudelange and of the Crèche de Luxembourg. Prince Nikolaus and Princess Margaretha travel frequently between their home in Liechtenstein, her native Luxembourg, and Brussels, where she attends conferences and meetings related to the EU-NGO in which she is actively involved.
