Wedding of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester

Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, third son of King George V and Queen Mary, married Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott, daughter of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, in the Private Chapel of Buckingham Palace. The wedding was originally planned for a public ceremony at Westminster Abbey, but can been ‘toned-down’ after the death of the bride’s father just weeks before and the failing health of the King, who died two months later.
