Happy Anniversary to Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who got married on this day in 1978 in Vienna. When the Queen’s cousin married the Divorced Catholic Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz, he forfeited his place in the line of succession, until 2013, when he was reinstated after the passing of the Succession to The Crown Act 2013.Prince and Princess Michael have two children and two grand children. Prince Michael of Kent married Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz in a civil ceremony at the Rathaus (City Hall) in Vienna, Austria. Among those in attendance were his siblings, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Princess Royal, and Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

In the evening, there was a grand Ball at the British Embassy in Vienna, before which bride and groom posed outside for the press. The new Princess Michael wore the Kent City of London Fringe Tiara for the first time.
