Swedish Royal Tiaras 2016

Happy Birthday to Queen Silvia of Sweden, who turns 73 today. The Swedish Royal family had a Tiara filled year starting with a representation Dinner and fairy tale party in February. They hosted the world’s royalty at King Carl Gustav’s 70th Birthday celebrations though only Queen Silvia attended Chilean State Banquet. There were two tiaras during the Swedish State Visit to Germany, and four tiaras each night at the Nobel Prize Banquet and King’s Dinner for Nobel Laureates. This made for a grand total of eleven Tiaras worn eighteen times this year. There were more tiaras worn by the King’s sisters, but covering them would have made this list endless.

In February, at a representation Dinner at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, Queen Silvia wore the Connaught Tiara, Crown Princess Victoria wore the Baden Fringe Tiara, and Princess Sofia wore her Emerald and Diamond Tiara. Also in February, Princess Madeleine wore the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara at a fairy tale party for children with serious illnesses.

In April, the Swedes hosted the world’s royalty at King Carl Gustav’s 70th Birthday celebrations, at which Queen Silvia wore the Connaught Tiara, Crown Princess Victoria wore the Boucheron Laurel Wreath Tiara, and Princess Madeleine wore her Modern Fringe Tiara. In May, during the Chilean State Visit to Sweden, Queen Silvia wore Queen Sofia’s Tiara.

On the Swedish State Visit to Germany, Queen Silvia wore the Connaught Tiara on Day 1, and the Baden Fringe Tiara on Day 2.

At the Nobel Prize Banquet in December, Queen Silvia wore the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure, Crown Princess Victoria wore the Cut Steel Tiara, Princess Sofia wore the Cut Steel Bandeau, and Princess Madeleine wore the Connaught Tiara.

At the King’s Dinner for Nobel Laureates the next evening, Queen Silvia wore the Nine Prong Tiara, Crown Princess Victoria wore Princess Lilian’s Laurel Wreath Tiara, Princess Sofia wore the Four Button tiara, and Princess Madeleine wore the Modern Fringe Tiara, and the Connaught Tiara as a necklace.
