Swedish Royal Wedding Dresses Exhibition

Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Sofia of Sweden attended a preview of a new Swedish ‘Royal Wedding Dresses 1976-2015′ exhibition at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on October 17th. The exhibition, which features the Wedding Dresses of the Queen and Swedish princess, marks the 40th wedding anniversary of King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia. “Royal Wedding Dresses 1976-2015” begins at the Royal Palace on 18 October 2016  and runs until 12 March 2017.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history, died on October 13th in Bangkok. The beloved monarch, regarded as semi-divine by the Thai people, reigned during a period of great change for Thailand. However, after his death, the future of the monarchy is uncertain in Thailand, as Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn has unexpectedly said he was not ready to take the throne, and asked for some time to mourn with the Thai people before his appointment as King. Before the start of the Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to The Netherlands on October 11th, we take a look back at the Queen’s State Visit to The Netherlands in 1958. Prince Leka of Albania, pretender to the Albanian throne, will marry Ms Elia Zaharia on October 8th at the Royal Palace in Tirana. In one of her pre-wedding interviews, the bride has stated that she will wear a tiara from the groom’s family. As their grandest tiara, Queen Geraldine’s Wedding tiara, was auctioned decades ago, the only other option is the Sapphire Goat Tiara, which has been worn by Prince Leka’s mother and Grandmother. Swedish State Visit to Germany- Day 2

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden started Day 2 of their State Visit to Germany in Hamburg, where they attended a seminar on sustainable mobility, and a press conference at the Elbe Philharmonic Hall. The Royal couple also visited the Princess library of the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg before hosting a return banquet at Charlottenburg Palace. Continue reading →
