Centenary of the Reunification of Denmark

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Christian for the official celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Reunification of Denmark in Southern Jutland on June 13th, which was delayed from last year due to the ongoing Pandemic. In 1920, King Christian X ratified the law that incorporated Southern Jutland into Denmark, after a period under German rule for 56 years, and the Royal Family made a symbolic journey to Southern Jutland. Orléans Emerald Necklace

Today marks the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Princess Hélène of Orléans, Duchess of Aosta, who was born on this day in 1871! The Orléans Princess who married an Italian Prince and became a noted traveller and big-game hunter before becoming the Head of the Italian Red Cross, the Duchess possessed many splendid jewels, many of which have already been featured, so today we are featuring the Duchess’ splendid Emerald Necklace, one of her most well-known pieces today!

Trooping the Colour 2021

The Queen was accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent and Colonel of the Scots Guards as she viewed the Military Parade in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle to mark Her Majesty’s Official Birthday, on June 12th. The Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 250 years, but unlike previous years, this year’s grand ceremony in London was cancelled, like last year, due to the ongoing pandemic.

Duchess of Cambridge and Dr. Jill Biden in Cornwall

The Duchess of Cambridge and Dr. Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, visited the Connor Downs Academy in Hayle, West Cornwall on June 11th, and led a roundtable discussion on the importance of early childhood on lifelong outcomes. The visit has taken place during the first day of the G7 Summit, which is being held across this weekend in Cornwall, and the Royal Family are heavily involved with a series of engagements. Queen Fabiola’s Bracelets

Today marks the anniversary of the birth of the late Queen Fabiola of the Belgians, daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness of Casa Riera, Fabiola Fernanda Maria de las Victorias Antonia Adelaïda de Mora y Aragón was born on this day in 1928! Despite the fact that the Belgian Royal Family is known for having the smallest jewellery collection  among the European monarchies, Queen Fabiola was able to assemble a decent jewelry collection, including Tunisian Parure, the Wolfers Necklace Tiara, the Waterfall Brooch, her Aquamarines and the Spanish Wedding Gift Tiara. Today, in honour of the birthday of the late Queen, we are featuring her collection of bracelets.

Today marks the 100th Birthday of the late Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away just a few weeks ago! Royal Guests at the Wedding of the Duke of Kent

People often forget how well related the Kent branch of the British Royal Family is to other Royal Families. The current Duke of Kent, Prince Edward, and his siblings –Princess Alexandra and Prince Michael– are not only the grandchildren of King George V through their father, their mother also came from a royal background. Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark was the granddaughter of King George I of Greece and great-granddaughter of King Christian IX of Denmark through her father, she was also a great-granddaughter of Emperor Alexander II of Russia through her mother, who was born a Russian Grand Duchess. Needless to say that these royal relations translated into quite a guest list for the Wedding of the current Duke of Kent to Katharine Worsley on this day in 1961, 60 years ago! Continue reading
