The Norwegian Royal Family are hosting King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium on their State Visit to Norway from March 24-26, which is the latest in over a century of close families ties between the Belgian and Norwegian Royal Families!
Crown Prince Haakon received King Philippe (in the Order of St. Olav) and Queen Mathilde of Belgium at Oslo Airport, before they joined King Harald V (wearing the the Order of Leopold) and Queen Sonja for the Official Welcome Ceremony outside the Royal Palace in Oslo.
Afterwards, the Royal Group was joined by Crown Princess Mette-Marit for the the exchange of gifts and an Audience inside the the Royal Palace.
Later, Crown Prince Haakon joined King Philippe and Queen Mathilde for a wreath laying ceremony at Akershus Fortress before the King and Queen had a meeting with the President of the Storting, and then visited the traditional Gol Stave Church at the Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo.
In the evening, King Harald V and Queen Sonja hosted a State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Oslo in honour of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, which was also attended by the Crown Prince. Both the Kings gave speeches.
Queen Mathilde wore the Nine Provinces Tiara and her Diamond Fringe Earrings with the Order of St. Olav.
Queen Sonja wore Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara and her Drapers’ Company Brooch, with the Order of Leopold, and the Royal Family Order of King Harald V.
