Diplomatic Reception at the Royal Palace of Madrid 2024

Following  Pascua Militar Ceremony at the Royal Palace of Madrid, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the annual Reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom of Spain on January 31st.

 


The King and Queen welcomed the Diplomatic Corps, after which the King gave his annual speech in the Throne Room of the Royal Palace of Madrid. Afterwards, the King and Queen attended a Reception in the Hall of Columns.

Next, His Majesty the King addressed a few words to the attendees where he highlighted that “In 2023, Spain has continued to deepen its commitment to multilateralism as a way to solve global problems. The year 2024 gives us the opportunity to move towards a better United Nations. prepared to respond to the commitments assumed and the challenges of our days, such as the new threats to peace.

The Diplomat is the public official who is an expert in international relations with a view to being accredited before other States and also in International Organizations with a representative nature.

King Felipe wore morning dress with a deep red tie and the badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Queen Letizia wore a navy gown with her Engagement Suite.

The day began with the New Year’s Military Parade outside the Royal Palace of Madrid, and after the National Anthem and a 21 gun salute, King Felipe reviewed the Royal Guard.

Afterwards, the King and Queen hosted Reception for officials from the Government, the Ministry of Defence, and the Civil Guard in the Saleta de Gasparini, and King Felipe presented honours in the Salón del Trono of the Palace, which was followed by a Speech.

This celebration is not just another one for the Crown. It is the 10th Military Easter that I have the honor of presiding over and it happily coincides with the fact that that for the first time the Princess of Asturias accompanies us; who, as a Lady Cadet of the General Military Academy, has started her military training plan this year. So – along with the Queen and the Princess –, as Supreme Commander, I am happy I would like to convey my congratulations and annual recognition to the members of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, to the members of the National Intelligence Center and to the group of men and women, civil and military, who, in the Ministry or in any field, serve the Defense and National Security

The year 2023 has proven to be a very demanding period, in which, together with the development of the permanent missions with which you ensure the sovereignty and independence of Spain, you have continued to carry out a long list of tasks within the strategic objectives established in international missions

The sincere and deep affection of the Crown towards those of you who are part of the Armed Forces, the Civil Guard and the National Intelligence Center, because, by offering a life of sacrificial and selfless service to others, you are a good reflection of the nobility of the Spanish people
