Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary in India

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark are on an Official Visit to India from February 26th to March 1st, visiting the cities of Agra, Delhi, and Chennai for a business promotion of 38 Danish companies with a green business focus on water and energy in India. Last year, the Danish Royal Family hosted an Official Dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Knights’ Hall of Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary began their visit to India at the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, before visiting the Agra Fort, touring both historical sites and learning the celebrated Mughal legacy in India.

The following day, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary met with India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at ITC Maurya in New Delhi, before taking part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial for Mahatma Gandhi and having lunch with Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankha in Sushma Swaraj Bhavanr. In the afternoon, the couple opened the ‘Silver Treasures from Denmark and India’ at the National Museum in New Delhi.  

In the evening, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a diplomatic Grand Dinner in New Delhi with representatives from the 38 participating Danish companies to mark the occasion of the Danish Business Promotion in India.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary began their third day in India with the ‘Partners for Green and Sustainable Progress’ Danish Business Promotion, where the Crown Prince gave a speech. Later, the Crown Prince participated in sessions at the Danish-Indian business promotion “Partners for Green and Sustainable Progress”, while the Crown Princess visited the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in her capacity as patron of the Maternity Foundation.

In the afternoon, the Crown Prince Couple visited the company stands from the Danish business delegation, learning about their work in wind energy and energy efficiency. Later, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were received by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
