King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand hosted King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on their State Visit to Thailand on this day in 2003, over four decades after the Thai State Visit to Sweden in 1960. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia returned to Thailand for King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Diamond Jubilee in 2006, and Queen Silvia also attended the Cremation of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2017.
The highlight of the state visit was the spectacular Banquet hosted by King Bhumibol Adulyadej (in the Order of the Seraphim) and Queen Sirikit (wearing her Diamond Tiara and the Order of the Seraphim) in honour of King Carl XVI Gustaf (in the Order of the Rajamitrabhorn) and Queen Silvia (in the Queen Sofia’s 9-Prong Tiara and the Order of Chula Chom Klao) at the Dusit Palace in Bangkok.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia (wearing the Connaught Diamond Tiara and Processional Necklace) also hosted a Return Banquet in honour of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit (in the Thai Diamond Fringe Tiara) in Bangkok.
