King Charles III has appointed The Right Honourable Rishi Sunak MP as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on October 25th 2022, following the resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss after a 49-day tenure. The outgoing Prime Minister gave her formal resignation to the King at Buckingham Palace, which was followed by a half-hour period when the King was Absolute Monarch of the United Kingdom, until he received Rishi Sunak, officially asking him to form a government and become Prime Minister, the 2nd Prime Minister of his 46-year Reign. Mr. Sunak accepted His Majesty’s offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

The appointment of Prime Minister Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle last month was the last public appearance of the late Queen just two days before she passed away.
