State Opening of Parliament, 1937

King George VI (in the Imperial State Crown) and Queen Elizabeth (wearing her Crown) presided over their first State Opening of Parliament in the Chamber of the House of Lords on this day I 1937, for the first time after their Accession to the British Throne.

The Duke and Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (wearing the Greek Ruby Parure) led the British Aristocracy for the spectacular Ceremony, which included the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough (in the Marlborough Tiara) and the Marquess and Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava (wearing the Dufferin Tiara) among a host of spectacular Peers and Peeresses.
