The Swedish Royal Family hosted Princess Alexandra of Kent as she visited Sweden to preside over the British Industries Trade Fair in Stockholm on this day in 1962. After being welcomed by Prince Bertil and Princess Margaretha at Arlanda Airport, the highlight of the visit was the spectacular Banquet and Ball given by the Federation of British Industries at the City Hall in Stockholm, at which Princess Alexandra (wearing her Diamond Flower Tiara and Pearl Corsage Brooch) was joined by King Gustaf VI Adolf (wearing the Order of the Garter), but ended up losing Empress Frederik’s Pearl Corsage Brooch, which was later recovered and handed in by a Swedish Guest.
