Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, as well as Group Captain Peter Townsend, joined King George VI and Queen Elizabeth as they watched a Play from the Royal Box of the Strand Theatre in London on this day in 1946, soon after the Second World War, and a few years before Princess Margaret’s failed romance with Peter Townsend. A few days earlier, the Royal Family had received Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands at Buckingham Palace, and the previous day, Princess Elizabeth was initiated into the Mystic Circle of Bards.
