Queen’s Golden Jubilee Dinner at Windsor Castle, 2002

Following a special Order of the Garter Service that morning, the Queen (wearing her Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace and Queen Mary’s Diamond Stomacher) hosted a Dinner to mark her Golden Jubilee in the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle on this day in 2002, which was attended by all the reigning European Sovereigns and Consorts.

The evening, the Queen hosted a Dinner for the European Sovereigns to mark her Golden Jubilee in the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle, which was attended by Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, and Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine Charlotte of Luxembourg.

In addition to the British Royal Family, guests included Queen Margrethe (wearing her Antique Diamond Parure) and Prince Henrik of Denmark, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (in the Ruby Peacock Parure), King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway (wearing Queen Maud’s Drapers’ Company Brooch), King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, King Albert and Queen Paola of Belgium, and Grand Duke Jean, Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte (in her Sapphire Necklace), Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg (wearing the Aquamarine Parure).

The following day, many of the Royals joined the British Royal Family at Royal Ascot, with King Harald of Norway and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in the first carriage with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, while Queen Sonja of Norway, Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, Queen Margarethe of Denmark Queen Silvia of Sweden, Grand Duke Jean, Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg were in carriages behind them.
