King Baudouin of Belgium is hosted by Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard on his State Visit to the Netherlands on this day in 1959, which began with an Official Welcome, followed by a balcony appearance from the Royal Palace of Amsterdam. Queen Juliana and Crown Princess Beatrix paid a Return Visit the following year. The King returned to The Netherlands for a State Visit in 1993, the last of his Reign, while the last Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands was in 2016.
The highlight of the State Visit was a Gala Performance attended by King Baudouin and Queen Juliana (wearing the Dutch Diamond Bandeau) as well as Crown Princess Beatrix (in the Aquamarine Tiara) and Princess Irene (wearing the Ruby Peacock Tiara) at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam.
