King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are in Oviedo this week to preside over the 2018 Princess of Asturias Awards, and will deliver a series of prizes to individuals, entities or companies from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs.

Afterwards, they met the Choir of the Princesa de Asturias Foundation. Later, they attended a Dinner hosted un their honour by the President of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, also attended by the members of the Foundation’s Patronages and the winners of the Princess of Asturias Awards 2018.

— Casa de S.M. el Rey (@CasaReal) October 19, 2018On October 19th, King Felipe and Queen Letizia received the received “Medals of Asturias 2018” in the Gold category, ten amateurs of speleology who discovered the cave of Tito Bustillo 50 years ago, and eleven Asturian centers that have been dedicated to preserving the identity of those who emigrate. They also received the winners of the “End of Carrera 2017” awards from the University of Oviedo, the protective members of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, the presidents of the Juries of the Princess of Asturias Awards , members of the Patronages and patrons emeritus and, the winners of the Princess of Asturias Awards 2018.

— Casa de S.M. el Rey (@CasaReal) October 19, 2018In the afternoon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were joined by Queen Sofia for the 2017 Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, where King Felipe presented the prizes and gave a speech to award the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out by people, institutions, groups of people or institutions in the international field, they are awarded in eight categories: Arts, Letters, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, Scientific Research and Technique, International Cooperation, Concord and Sports.

For the Concert, King Felipe wore a navy suit with a blue tie and the pin of the Insignia of Asturias. Queen Letizia wore a black Armani dress with the earrings and bracelets of the ‘Joyas de Pasar’. For the Audiences, King Felipe wore a blue suit with a pink tie and the pin of the Insignia of Asturias. Queen Letizia repeated her red Carolina Herrera dress with ruby and diamond earrings. At the Award Ceremony, King Felipe wore a dark suit with a pink tie and the pin of the Insignia of Asturias. Queen Letizia wore a Felipe Varela dress with the earrings of the ‘Joyas de Pasar’.
