Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in Malaysia

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are on an 11-day visit to Singapore, Malaysia, and India from October 30th to November 9th, at the request of the British Government, to celebrate the United Kingdom’s partnership with these Commonwealth Nations on shared priorities in advance of the Commonwealth Summit in April 2018.  Click HERE for Day 1, and HERE for Day 2 in Singapore, as well as HERE for the visit to Brunei.

On November 3rd, the Duchess of Cornwall visited The International School at ParkCity in Kuala Lumpur with Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Johor, where they were welcomed by the students, toured classrooms, officially opened the Mawar wing of the school, and met students taking part in The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition. Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales visited the Islamic Arts Museum in Kuala Lumpur with Nazrin Shah, the Sultan of Perak, where he gave a speech, saying “I cannot tell you how delighted I am to be in Malaysia for the first time.”

Later, the Duchess attended a meeting on gender equality with Malaysian female business leaders at The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and then visited PERMATA Negara, a centre with programmes for children to achieve their potential through cultural learning, where she watched a performance. Meanwhile the Prince visited WORQ space, which aims to create the largest co-working community in Asia, and the University of Nottingham Malaysia, to launch the Commonwealth Youth Summit. In the afternoon, the couple had tea with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V, the King of Malaysia, at the Istana Negara.

In the evening, the Prince of wales and Duchess of Cornwall attended a Gala Dinner to celebrate 60 years of UK/Malaysia diplomatic ties at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Among the guests were the Queens of Johor and Perak, the Prime Minister and First Lady, and Jimmy Choo.

The Duchess of Cornwall wore a turquoise salwar kameez with her pearl earrings, and enamel poppy brooch. In the evening, the Prince of Wales wore Black Tie with a poppy. The Duchess wore a pale pink Anna Valentine gown with her new Van Cleef & Arpels Snowflake Earrings and a diamond bracelet.
