Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in Singapore

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are on an 11-day visit to Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and India from October 30th to November 9th, at the request of the British Government, to celebrate the United Kingdom’s partnership with these Commonwealth Nations on shared priorities in advance of the Commonwealth Summit in April 2018.

On October 30th, after arriving in Singapore, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall met with athletes taking part in the Commonwealth Baton Relay, which was launched by the Queen in March and will end at the XXI Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast in April 2018.

On October 31st, The Prince and Duchess were officially welcomed by President Halimah Yacob and her husband at the Istana Presidential Palace, where the Prince reviewed the Guard. They also met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loon and Mrs Lee. Later, the Royal Couple attended a wreath laying service at the Cenotaph, after which they met veterans and members of the public.

The Duchess of Cornwall attended a Commonwealth Literacy event at Temasek Junior College, where one of the students, Tan Wan Gee, was the Commonwealth Literacy Runner Up in 2016. Meanwhile, the Prince explored MacRitchie Reservoir, a nature park also known as Singapore’s Green Lung, and met leaders from different faith groups at The Harmony Centre.

In the evening, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall attended an official dinner hosted by President Halimah Yacob at the Istana Presidential Palace, where the Prince gave a speech.

The Prince of Wales wore a double-breasted, pin-stripped suit with a striped tie, medals, regimental pins, a poppy, and the neck badge of the Order of Merit. The Duchess of Cornwall wore a (really lovely) pale green dress with her pearl earrings, single-strand pearl necklace, bracelets, poppy, and floral scarf. In the evening, the Prince changed into a navy suit with a blue tie, while the Duchess wore a pale green Anna Valentine gown with her Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra earrings and a cream scarf.
