Sotheby’s Fine Jewels- 1 June 2017

After their large Magnificent and Noble Jewels Sales in Spring, auction houses have a couple of smaller jewelry sale, which include pieces with illustrious provenance, in the early summer. Sotheby’s Fine Jewels Sale in Geneva on June 1st includes a few objects with a Noble provenance, including two brooches and a bracelet.

Diamond Brooch

Estimate: 6,000-10,000 CHF ($6,000-10,000) Sold: 7,500 CHF ($7,500)

From a Noble Family 

Designed as a stork, the eyes highlighted with cabochon rubies, the wings and tail embellished with circular-cut and baguette diamonds, and the body containing a lock of hair, this gold and diamond brooch comes from a Noble Family.

Diamond Tiara

Estimate: 6,000-10,000 CHF ($6,000-10,000) Sold: 8,125 CHF ($8,400)

Of scroll design, set with cushion-shaped, circular-, brilliant-cut and rose diamonds, this Diamond Tiara bears similarities to the Vifte Tiara, a wedding gift to Queen Maud of Norway, and now worn by Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway.

Emerald, Diamond and Onyx Bracelet

Estimate: 6,000-10,000 CHF ($6,000-10,000) Sold: 11,250 CHF ($11,250)

From a European Noble Family

Composed of two lines of circular-cut diamonds alternating with onyx motifs, the front set with a step-cut emerald, the sides engraved with foliate motifs, this Emerald, Diamond and Onyx Bracelet comes from the collection of a European Noble Family.

Pearl and Diamond Arrow Brooch

Estimate: 6,000-10,000 CHF ($6,000-10,000) Sold: 2,500 CHF ($2,500)

From a European Noble Family

Designed as an arrow set with cushion-shaped, circular-cut and rose diamonds, supporting a button shaped cultured pearl, this Pearl and Diamond Arrow Brooch comes from the collection of a European Noble Family.
