Danish New Year’s Reception 2019

Queen Margrethe was joined by Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, and Princess Marie as she hosted the the annual New Year’s Court (Nytårskur) and Banquet for the Government, top Civil Servants and the Royal Court at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg in Copenhagen on January 1st. The Royals were pictured arriving at the Palace and reviewing the Guard but the Banquet remained a private event with no photographs released except of the decorations. Two more New Year’s Levees will be held next week.

Queen Margrethe wore her coral pink gown with the Pearl Poire Tiara and pieces from the Crown Pearl Suite, the Collar and Star of the Order of the Elephant and the Badge of the Order of the Dannebrog.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark wore Uniform with his medals, the Collar and Star of the Order of the Elephant and Neck Badge of the Order of the Dannebrog. Crown Princess Mary wore a Jesper Høvring gown with her Diamond Necklace Tiara and earrings (not her Ruby Parure as she has worn for all of the previous Receptions), the Collar and Star of the Order of the Elephant and Queen Margrethe’s Royal Family Order.

Prince Joachim wore Uniform with his medals, the Collar and Star of the Order of the Elephant and Neck Badge of the Order of the Dannebrog. Princess Marie wore a Rikke Gudnitz gown with the Dagmar Floral Tiara, the Collar and Star of the Order of the Elephant and Queen Margrethe’s Royal Family Order.

  1. All the ladies looked wonderful! I was surprised to see CP Mary in the Spinel tiara and not in the Ruby Tiara. This is the most formal even of the year, so I would have thought she would bring out her biggest gun. The decoration of the palace dining room looks marvelous! I especially liked the green wine glasses. They must be heirlooms! Simply gorgeous!
