Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Emerald Necklace Tiara

Today marks the Bicentenary of the Birth of Duchess Alexandrine of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who was born on this day in 1820! The daughter of the Grand Duke of Baden and Princess Sophie of Sweden, Princess Alexandrine married Duke Ernest II of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the brother of Prince Albert, the Prince Consort. Though the couple had no children, and the Duke had numerous affairs, the Duchess remained fiercely devoted to her husband, much to the consternation of their family, particularly Queen Victoria. She remained a prominent figure in the Royal Family after his death in 1894, passing away in 1904. To mark the Anniversary, we are featuring Duchess Alexandrine’s Emerald Necklace Tiara (the result of long research over the past two years), as well as her Emerald Necklace!

Princess Victoria’s Cartier Diamond Tiara

Today marks the 85th Anniversary of the Death of Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom, who died on this day in 1935! The British Princess, who was the daughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, and the sister of King George V and Queen Maud of Norway, was prevented from marrying and remained the lifelong companion of her mother, living only a decade after her death. To mark the Anniversary, we are taking a look at her Cartier Diamond Tiara.

Mountbatten Emerald Necklace

Today marks the 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Edwina, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, who was born on this day in 1900! The vivacious Heiress who married Prince Philip’s ambitious uncle and lived an uninhibited life before serving with distinction in WWII and becoming the last Vicereine of India, Lady Mountbatten had a fascinating life and quite a lovely jewellery collection. We have already discussed many of her jewels, including the Mountbatten Tiara, her Pearl and Diamond Tiara, Pearl Star Tiara, and Art Deco Diamond Necklace  but today we are going to feature her famous Emerald Necklace.
