We were sad to hear of the passing of Susanne Heering last month at the age of 87! The Ballet Dancer married to the head of one of the most notable Danish Families, who was one of the oldest friends of Queen Margrethe II, the late Susanne Heering often wore this striking Diamond Wreath Tiara!
Susanne Heering was a notable ballet dancer who established her own ballet school in Næstved and Copenhagen, at which Queen Margrethe designed costumes and scenography for the school’s annual performances, after they had met at a housewarming in 1965. She married Peter Heering, from an old shipping family, in 1962, and the couple had four children. Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik were close friends of Susanne and Peter Heering, which has continued with their children. Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte were among the guests at Susanne Heering’s funeral a few days ago.
The exact origin of this Diamond Wreath Tiara is unknown but it must be an heirloom of the Heering Family, who have been prominent in Danish Society for over two centuries.
Caroline Kjær first wore the Diamond Wreath Tiara to marry Peter Heering in 2001, at which Prince Joachim was among the bridal party.
For several years, Caroline Heering was the Lady-in-Waiting to then Crown Princess Mary, and wore the Diamond Wreath Tiara for numerous court occasions, among them the Wedding of Prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier in 2008.
In 2011, Sarah Kalbeitzer wore the Diamond Wreath Tiara to marry Gregers Heering in Maribo Cathedral.
The Diamond Wreath Tiara was worn by Susanne Heering for Queen Margrethe’s Ruby Jubilee Gala in 2012.
The Wreath Tiara was worn by Christel Lüttichau, Susanne’s daughter, for a Banquet at Amalienborg Palace during the Icelandic State Visit to Denmark in 2017.
Susanne Heering also wore the Diamond Wreath Tiara for Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th Birthday Gala Dinner at Christiansborg Palace in 2018.
Most recently, the Diamond Wreath Tiara was worn by Susanne Heering for Queen Margrethe’s Golden Jubilee Gala at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 2022, where we had the pleasure of seeing the Tiara up close in person. Lets hope the Diamond Wreath Tiara will be worn for generations to come!
