The Prince, the future head of the Church of England, and Princess of Wales led the dignitaries at the Installation of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, at Canterbury Cathedral. Archbishop Sarah is the first woman to hold the office in its 1,400-year history.
Primates and representatives from across the worldwide Anglican Communion were also present, along with guests including faith leaders, charities, healthcare workers and school children. The service marks the start of her public ministry in the Church of England and worldwide Anglican Communion.
The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Lambeth Palace last month after the Archbishop assumed office as the first woman to lead the Church of England.
