Happy Birthday to Queen Saleha of Brunei, who turns 77 today! The illustrious Princess who married her first cousin, the Sovereign of the wealthy Sultanate, and is now the world’s longest-serving Queen Consort, Queen Saleha has a massive jewellery collection, which includes this striking Ruby and Diamond Tiara!
A striking Ruby and Diamond Tiara composed of large faceted and cabochon rubies in a modern diamond frame, which was no doubt newly created for Queen Saleha, since the Royal Family of Brunei refuses to acquire jewellery made or worn by anyone else.
Queen Saleha began wearing this Ruby and Diamond Tiara around the mid-2000s, when it appears this Portrait was taken.
Queen Saleha also wore her Ruby and Diamond Tiara for a Banquet marking the Silver Jubilee of the late Sultan of Perak in 2009.
While not as frequently worn as her Diamond Tiaras, Queen Saleha has occasionally worn the Ruby and Diamond Tiara for the annual Ceremonies and Banquets marking the Sultan’s Birthday at the Istana Nurul Iman.
The Ruby Tiara was loaned to Pengiran Anak Isteri Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah for her wedding to Prince Abdul Malik of Brunei, the third son of the Sultan and Queen Saleha.
Queen Saleha notably wore her Ruby and Diamond Tiara at a Banquet celebrating the installation of the Sultan of Pahang as the King of Malaysia in 2019.
More recently, Queen Saleha wore her Ruby Tiara for an Investiture Ceremony marking the Sultan’s 78th Birthday at the Istana Nurul Iman in 2024. There is no doubt we will connie to see this striking Tiara worn for years to come!
