Crown Princess Victoria’s Diamond Spike Tiara

Happy Birthday to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who turns 48 today! The popular Heir who is set to become the first Swedish Queen Regnant in over 300 years, the Crown Princess has access to the massive Swedish Royal Jewellery Collection, and today’s piece is a jewel she received her 18th Birthday exactly 30 years ago, her Diamond Spike Tiara!

When Crown Princess Victoria celebrated her 18th Birthday 30 years ago, she received this tiny Diamond and Sapphire Spike Tiara as a gift from her parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, which had been newly acquired.

Crown Princess Victoria notably wore the Diamond Spike Tiara for the Wedding Ball and the Wedding of Prince Joachim of Denmark and Alexandra Manley in 1995.

That same year, the Diamond and Sapphire Spike Tiara was worn by Crown Princess Victoria for the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian State Visits ahead of her first Nobel Prize Ceremony and the King’s Dinner in 1995.

The following year, Crown Princess Victoria wore the Diamond and Sapphire Spike Tiara for the 50th Birthday of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in 1996, the Amaranther Ball, the Finnish State Visit, and a Nobel Dinner in 1997.

Crown Princess Victoria also wore the Diamond Spike Tiara for the Wedding of Baroness Christina Silfverschiöld and Baron Hans De Geer af Finspång and the 60th Birthday of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in 2000.

By the 2000s, the Diamond Spike Tiara had been overtaken by the Baden Fringe Tiara and the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara in Crown Princess Victoria’s rooster, appearing at the Banquet for Parliamentarians in 2001, 2004, 2005, and finally in 2007, which was the last time the Spike Tiara was seen in public.
