Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara

Happy Birthday of Princess Anastasia of Prussia, Fürstin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, who turns 80 today! The Prussian Princess who married the Head of the illustrious German Princely Family, Princess Anastasia has often worn eh spectacular Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara!

A spectacular Diamond Floral Diadem dating to the mid- to late-19th century, this Tiara is no doubt a historic heirloom of the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Princely Family, though its exact provenance is unknown.

In 1956, the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara was worn by then then Fürstin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg for the Wedding Ball of her daughter, Princess Maria of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg and Archduke Joseph Árpád of Austria.

The next day, the Tiara was worn by Princess Maria of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg for her Wedding to Archduke Joseph Árpád of Austria at the Kloster Bronnbach in Wertheim am Main.

Princess Anastasia of Prussia wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for her Wedding to Hereditary Prince Aloys-Konstantin of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg in Erbach in 1965, following an appearance at the Wedding Ball.

The following year, the Tiara was worn by Princess Christiana zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg for her Wedding to Archduke Michael of Austria.

In 1968, Princess Monika zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara and two Diamond Rivieres for her Wedding to Don Jaime Mendez de Vigo y del Arco at the Kloster Bronnbach in Wertheim am Main.

The next year, the Tiara was worn by Princess Lioba zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg for her Wedding to the Prince zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Wallerstein.

Princess Anastasia wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for the Wedding of Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia and Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia in Madrid in 1976.

In the 1990s, Princess Anastasia wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for a Ball at Schloss Nymphenburg, possibly the Wedding Ball of Duke Philipp of Württemberg and Duchess Marie-Caroline in Bavaria at Schloss Nymphenburg in 1991 or the Wedding Ball of Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein and Duchess Sophie in Bavaria in 1993.

Princess Anastasia also wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for Prince Henrik of Denmark’s 60th Birthday Gala at Fredensborg Palace in 1994.

In 1998, Baroness Stephanie von Brenken wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for her Wedding to Hereditary Prince Carl Friedrich of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg at Schloss Erpernburg following a Civil Ceremony at Schloss Kleinheubach.

The Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara was also worn by Baroness Iris von Dörnberg for her Wedding to Prince Hubertus zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg in 2010.

Princess Anastasia also wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for the Wedding Ball of the Prince of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg in Potsdam in 2011.

More recently, Princess Anastasia wore the Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg Tiara for the Wedding Gala of Princess Sophie zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and Count Constantin Fugger von Babenhausen at Schloss Wertheim in Kreuzwertheim in 2017.

It is also quite likely that the Tiara was worn by Hereditary Princess Stephanie for the Wedding Ball of Hereditary Prince Ludwig zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and Helene von Pezold at Schloss Wertheim in Kreuzwertheim in 2023. There is no doubt we will continue to the the Tiara worn for years to come!

  1. Yet another excellent blog entry! 🙂 This is a rather substantial tiara and I am happy to see that it has been able to sparkle on the head of the Princess also recently and like you I do hope to see it again in the future.
