On January 9th, the extended Brunei Royal Family gathered for the Istiadat Berbedak Pengantin Diraja, the Royal Powdering Ceremony, at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana in the Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan. The powdering ceremony is when the couple’s families bless them by putting coloured rice powder and scented oils on their hands.

Prince Abdul Mateen entered the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana first, and the Powdering Ceremony was led by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Saleha of Brunei followed by the rest of the Royal Family including Prince Mateen’s mother, Puan Mariam binti Abdul Aziz.

Afterwards, Anisha Rosnah binti Adam entered the Hall for her Istiadat Berbedak Pengantin Diraja Ceremony, wearing a bright red outfit topped by a traditional gold crown and spectacular gold jewellery, veiled under a red veil.

The Royal Family then took the Royal Powdering Ceremony on the bride, at the end of which her parents put the powder and oil, ahead of Anisha Rosnah binti Adam leaving the hall.
