Wedding of Prince Christian Oscar of Hanover, 1963

Royal Relatives celebrate the Wedding of Prince Christian Oscar of Hanover and Mireille Dutry in Brussels on this day in 1963, 60 years ago, after the two had eloped and had a civil marriage in Salzburg.

Prince Christian Oscar of Hanover, son of the Duke of Brunswick and Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia, married Mireille Dutry, daughter of Belgian industrialist Armand Dutry and Tinou Soinne, in a religious ceremony in Brussels, following a civil ceremony in Salzburg. The couple had two daughter, Princess Caroline-Luise and Princess Mireille, before their divorce in 1976.

Royal Guests and Relatives included the Duchess of Brunswick (mother of the groom), Crown Prince Constantine of Greece (nephew of the groom), Prince George William of Hanover (brother of the groom) and Princess Sophie of Greece (sister-in-law of the groom) as well as Prince Karl of Hesse.

Two days earlier, Crown Prince Constantine of Greece and Prince George William of Hanover were joined by Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy and Prince Johannes of Thurn and Taxis as well as the wife of the Greek Consul General in Salzburg for the ceremonial Opening of the Munich Opera.
