Princess Alexandra in Sweden, 1968

The Swedish Royal Family hosted Princess Alexandra of Kent and the Hon. Angus Ogilvy on their visit to Stockholm, which ended on this day in 1968, 55 years ago, to mark British Week in Sweden, which came six years after her visit Official Visit to Sweden in 1962.

King Gustaf VI Adolf welcomed Princess Alexandra of Kent and the Hon. Angus Ogilvy at Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, just weeks after the passing of her mother, Princess Alexandra, the Duchess of Kent.

There were several spectacular evening events, at which Princess Alexandra (in the Kent Pearl Bandeau) was seen with Princess Sibylla of Sweden, including a Dinner given by the Export Council for Europe at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, a Gala Performance of the National Theatre Company’s production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’, followed by a Naval Ball arranged by the British Colony Association, a Gala Première of the United Artists film ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’, a Gala Première of the Clothing Export Council fashion spectacular, ‘Fashion Happens in London’ in the Congress Hall, and a Dinner given by Lloyds Register of Shipping.

September, British Week | Stockholm, Princess Alexandra is in town. And Rank Xerox makes its final sprint on Sveavilgen. Between Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra and Rank Xerox there is a unifying link: The Honorable Angus Ogilvy, husband of the princess and board member of the Rank Organization in England. It was therefore doubly successful that new premises were inaugurated on 30 September by Princess Alexandra. Rank Xerox’s opening audience got to rest their heads on a truly charming English Lady. They told her to open the new premises by having the Rank Xerox 3600 produce the opening copy. Curiously, she turned the symbolic key. And delighted she examined the result of her own hand-copying of a letter from Elizabeth I of England to Erik XIV of Sweden. Her husband and Mr. Lavers were drawn to the happy, broad smiles that the cover photo of this issue of Rank Xerox Nytt Visar shows. In the new premises of approx. 400 m2, there is space for offices, demonstrations, exhibitions and copy services. The premises are managed by salespeople and instructors. However, the branch manager, secretary, system administrator and customer reception and service remain at HK

  1. What an agenda – that would nowadays be counted separately for the records, but even taking out some of the the music it is over 60 events!
