Wedding of Álvaro Fernández Villaverde, Marquess of Viso

Álvaro Fernández de Villaverde y Bernaldo de Quirós, Marquess of Viso married Caterina Fontana Sánchez at the Palacio de Los Hornillos in La Casona de las Fraguas in Cantabria, a Residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro and San Carlos, on September 23rd.

Álvaro Fernández Villaverde, Marquess of Viso married Caterina Fontana Sánchez in the Iglesia de San Jorge in las Fraguas, followed by a Reception at the Palacio de Los Hornillos on the Estate of La Casona de las Fraguas. The Marquess of Viso is the son and heir of the Duke of Santo Mauro and San Carlos and the Marquis of Santa Cruz.

At seven o’clock in the afternoon, Caterina Fontana entered, arm in arm with her father, into the Iglesia de San Jorge, popularly called the Parthenon. A temple built in 1890 by the family of her boyfriend, which was later transferred to the town of Las Fraguas. The bride wore a Greek-inspired dress in floral lace and a fantasy tulle shoulder cape. Caterina wore a ballerina bun and a diamond tiara with discreet matching earrings, and in her hands was a bouquet of white heather.

After the religious ceremony, the couple and guests moved to the gardens of La Casona de las Fraguas, a farm called Los Hornillos that has 50 hectares of trees, meadows and lakes. There, photographs of the wonderful landscape were taken and then we went to dinner and the after party. It was there where the bride and groom surprised their guests by taking the microphone and singing together. Álvaro is a great music fanand his hobbies include playing the guitar and singing. Caterina, with her hair down and no longer wearing a diadem or cape, and Álvaro sang their first happy song as husband and wife in front of more than eight hundred guests who accompanied them. A party that lasted until the early hours of the morning.

Various members of the Spanish Nobility were among the 800 guests in attendance, including the Marchioness of Cubas.
