Prince Charles in France, 1978

Prince Charles was on an extended visit to Deauville in France on this day in 1978, 45 years ago, for a series of Polo Matches and an extended Holiday. The King and Queen will be going on their first State Visit to France next month.

The Prince of Wales played multiple Polo Matches during the course of the visit, before being given the trophy by the Parisian Public Relations executive, Countess Angelika Lazensky.

Prince Charles also took some time off to go Windsurfing and swimming in the sea with friends and members of his entourage.

Prince Charles was also seen practicing polo at the polo pony stables in Deauville.

The King and Queen will be going on their first State Visit to France next month.
