Wedding Ball of Hereditary Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and Princess Josephine Charlotte of Belgium, 1953

Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Felix of Luxembourg hosted a spectacular Ball at the Palais Grand Ducal in Luxembourg on this day in 1953, on the eve of the Wedding of Hereditary Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, the son of Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma, and Princess Josephine-Charlotte of Belgium (wearing the Belgian Scroll Tiara, Diamond Earrings and the Congo Diamond Necklace), daughter of King Leopold III of Belgium and late Princess Astrid of Sweden.

We can only catch a glimpse of the Princess de Réthy (the bride’s stepmother, wearing her Cartier Flower Tiara) dancing with the groom and Count Flemming of Rosenborg (a cousin of the bride) but Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included King Baudouin (brother of the bride), Queen Elisabeth (grandmother), King Leopold III (father) and the Princess de Réthy leading the Belgian Royal Family, Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, King Umberto II and Queen Marie José of Italy (aunt of the bride), Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway (aunt of the bride), Prince Axel of Denmark and Princess Margaretha of Sweden and Denmark (aunt of the bride), the Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein, and the Duke and Duchess of Braganza among a host of Royals and Nobles from around Europe.
