In the midst of intense rumours about the state of their marriage, the Prince and Princess of Wales embarked on a visit to the Republic of South Korea on this day in 1992, which was dubbed as the ’Togetherness Tour’ but highlighted the cracks in their marriage, with their separation being announced the following month.

The Royal Couple arrived at the Seoul Air Base and visited the Seoul National Cemetery, followed by a Banquet hosted by the Korean President in honour of the Prince and Princess (wearing the Spencer Tiara and South-Sea Pearl Earrings) at the Blue House in Seoul.

The following day, the Prince and Princess visited the South Korean President Roh Tae-woo and his wife Kim Ok-suk at the Blue House in Seoul, followed by a visit to the Gloucester Valley Battle Monument or ‘Gloster Memorial’ and to the Lotte Department Store.

The visited ended with a tour of the Bulguksa Buddhist Temple in Gyeongju and a visit to a school for deaf and mute children in Ulsan.
