King Olav V’s Silver Jubilee, 1982

Guests from around Scandinavia joined the Norwegian Royal Family to celebrate King Olav V of Norway‘s Silver Jubilee in a series of celebrations on this day in 1982, also marking the 25th Anniversary of the Death of King Haakon VII. King Harald celebrated his Silver Jubilee in 2016.

Celebrations began the evening before, with King Olav, Crown Prince Harald and Crown Princess Sonja (wearing Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara), and Princess Astrid (in her Gold Tiara) being joined by 1400 Guests, including Queen Margrethe (wearing Princess Dagmar’s Diamond Floral Tiara and Antique Diamond Parure) and Prince Henrik of Denmark and King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden (in the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara), for a Gala Performance.
