The Earl of Lichfield took a series of candid portraits of the Royal Family during their annual Summer Holiday at Balmoral Castle in 1972, taken as part of a series of portraits released on the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Wedding Anniversary, which included portraits taken on the Royal Yacht Britannia earlier that year. The hightailing of the stay was the Ghillies Ball at Balmoral.
