The Prince and Princess of Wales were in the midst of an extensive visit to India on this day in 1992, their penultimate joint Tour before their Seperation later that year. The couple were welcomed by the Vice President and Mrs. Sharma in Delhi before a Banquet hosted by President Ramaswamy Venkataraman in honour of the Prince and Princess (wearing the Spencer Tiara and her Qatar Pearl Earrings) at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Highlights during the Tour included the Princess visiting the Taj Mahal on a solo day trip to Agra, a stay with the Jaipur Royal Family in Jaipur, where there was a polo match. The Princess also visited Hyderabad and Calcutta, where she paid a visit to Mother Teresa’s hospice, Missionaries of Charity to meet the sick and the terminally ill. Returning to New Delhi, the Prince and Princess met with the President and First Lady at the Rashtrapati Bhavan before they returned to Britain.
