The Christening of Prince Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian of Denmark, second son of Crown Princess Margrethe of Denmark (wearing her Connaught Pearl Brooch) and Count Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, at Aarhus Cathedral on this day in 1969, the first Danish Royal Christening outside of Copenhagen. Prince Joachim’s godparents are his maternal aunt, Princess Benedikte of Denmark; his paternal uncle, Count Jean Baptiste de Laborde de Monpezat; his mother’s first cousin, Princess Christina of Sweden; and then Crown Prince, now King, Harald of Norway.
