Happy Birthday to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who turns 44 today! The popular Heir who superseded her younger brother and is set to become the first Swedish Queen Regnant in over 300 years, the Crown Princess has access to the massive Swedish Royal Jewellery Collection, and today’s piece is an heirloom she has really embraced over the past few years!
Composed of an elaborate elongated design, there spectacular Diamond Earrings were originally a pair of Epaulettes that rested on the shoulders of a dress uniform. Likely royal heirlooms from the 18th century, these Epaulettes were converted into Earrings by the time of Crown Princess Victoria’s Pre-Wedding Gala in 2010, when they made a splendid pairing with an Ellie Saab Gown and the Swedish Royal Family’s Diamond Arrow.
Crown Princess Victoria later wore the Diamond Epaulette Earrings for the King’s Dinner for Nobel Laureates in 2011, and also for King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 80th Birthday Banquet in 2017, both times paired with the Baden Fringe Tiara.
The Diamond Epaulette Earrings have also been worn by Princess Madeleine, first with the Modern Fringe Tiara at King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 70th Birthday Banquet in 2016, and then with the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in 2019.
More recently, Crown Princess Victoria paired the Diamond Epaulette Earrings with the the Baden Fringe Tiara in a series of portraits released for her 10th Anniversary last year, a touching tribute to her Pre-Wedding Gala. There is no doubt we will continue to see these splendid Heirlooms for years to come!
In 2022, the Diamond Epaulette Earrings were worn by Queen Silvia for the first time in public for a Reception during a State Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
