Spanish Royal Family launch Submarine

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain were accompanied by the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Sofía, as they presided over the launching ceremony of Submarine S-81 “Isaac Peral”, at the Navantia Shipyard in Cartagena on April 22nd, the first of a series of four submarines that will enter service in the Spanish Navy in the coming years.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía arrived at the Navantia shipyard in Cartagena, where they first unveiled a plaque commemorating the ocassion and talked with the workers participating in the construction of Submarine S- 81 “Isaac Peral”, before seeing an audiovisual for a virtual visit to the Submarine S-81.

Subsequently, there was the blessing of Submarine S-81 by the chaplain and the Princess of Asturias, accompanied by the King, cut the ribbon with the Spanish flag releasing the bottle with red wine selected and bottled by for the occasion, thus symbolizing the launching moment of Submarine S-81 “Isaac Peral”, accompanied by the interpretation of the National Anthem, concluding the ceremony with a group photograph with the keel endowment of the submarine.
