The Japanese Imperial Family hosted King Hussein and Queen Alia of Jordan on their State Visit to Japan on this day in 1976, which began with an Official Welcome from Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako at the Imperial Palace, and a State Banquet hosted by the Emperor (wearing the Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali) and Empress (in the Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara and the Supreme Order of the Renaissance) in honour of the King (in the Order of the Chrysanthemum) and Queen (wearing her Cartier Tiara and the Order of the Precious Crown). Crown Prince Akihito (in the Order of Al-Hussein bin Ali) and Crown Princess Michiko (wearing the Diamond Scroll Tiara), Prince and Princess Hitachi, Princess Chichibu and Princess Takamatsu were also present.
