Accession of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, 1950

King Gustaf VI Adolf (wearing the Order of the Seraphim) and Queen Louise of Sweden (wearing King Gustaf V’s Portrait Brooch) were joined by Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, Princess Sibylla, Prince Bertil, Princess Margaretha, Princess Birgitta, Princess Désirée, and Princess Christina as they marked their Accession to the Swedish Throne on the Balcony of the Royal Palace of Stockholm on this day in 1950, following the Death of King Gustaf V. King Gustaf VI Adolf reigned until his death in 1973, when he was succeeded by his grandson King Carl XVI Gustaf.
