King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, the soon-to-be Crown Princess Victoria, and the soon-to-be former Crown Prince Carl Philip of Sweden pose for a series of photographs at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on this day in 1979, to celebrate Christmas. On the first of January, Sweden switched from Agnatic primogeniture to Absolute primogeniture, when Crown Princess Victoria superseded her brother in the line of succession, becoming the first European Monarchy to adopt equal succession.
